Smart investment in the digital age: Identifying investment opportunities through funds
The Conference aimed to raise public awareness and disseminate knowledge about securities and the securities market among the investing public; at the same time, it introduced the benefits of and methods for participating in investment through funds, thereby encouraging investors to develop long-term investment strategies, enhance professionalism, and gradually establish a balanced and sustainable investor structure in Viet Nam’s securities market.
This program was organized within the framework of implementing the Project on communication, dissemination of knowledge and investor education in Viet Nam’s securities market under Decision No. 722/QĐ-SSC dated September 29, 2025, issued by the SSC, and the Project on investor restructuring and development of the securities investment fund industry under Decision No. 3168/QĐ-BTC dated September 12, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Finance.
The Conference was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Department of Management of Fund Management Companies and Securities Investment Funds, the Securities Research and Training Center, and other units under the SSC; Viet Nam Exchange (VNX); Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX); and Viet Nam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation (VSDC), as well as representatives of fund management companies, securities investment funds, securities companies, commercial banks, public companies, experts, enterprises, and press and media agencies. In particular, the Conference was also attended by leaders, lecturers, and students from the Academy of Finance, Foreign Trade University, and National Economics University, as well as investors.
At the opening of the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh, Head of the Department of Management of Fund Management Companies and Securities Investment Funds, stated that on July 27, 2026, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1413/QD-TTg approving the Project on comprehensive reform of the Vietnamese financial market. One of the key solutions under the Project is to develop a sustainable investor base, modernize financial infrastructure, promote digital transformation, operate new products and markets effectively, and introduce breakthrough mechanisms to develop the capital market in terms of both scale and liquidity.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh, these are also directions that the Government, the Ministry of Finance, and the SSC have focused on implementing in recent years, including the Project on upgrading the Vietnamese securities market, the Project on investor restructuring and development of the securities investment fund industry, and the Project on communication, dissemination of knowledge and investor education in Viet Nam’s securities market for the 2025–2030 period.
Regarding the development of the fund industry, Mr. Nguyen Cong Minh said that the market currently has 43 fund management companies in operation and 142 securities investment funds, including 106 public funds. The total assets under management (AUM) of fund management companies have grown significantly in recent years. At the end of 2015, AUM at fund management companies stood at approximately VND 124 trillion. By the end of June 2026, this figure had exceeded VND 846 trillion, representing a 6.8-fold increase. Average annual AUM growth over the past 10 years has exceeded 20%/year.

The SSC representative also emphasized that, in the context of digital technology, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI) significantly transforming the ways in which investment opportunities are accessed, analyzed, and managed, smart investing increasingly requires investors to have comprehensive information, appropriate methods, and effective risk management capabilities.
With the participation of representatives from regulatory authorities, financial experts, fund management companies, securities companies, and the investor community, the Conference is expected to provide diverse perspectives and practical solutions to promote stronger development of the investment fund industry, while helping investors identify new opportunities in the coming period.
At the Conference, representatives of the SSC shared extensive information on the development of the fund industry in Viet Nam, as well as orientations, mechanisms, and policies to promote investment through funds, thereby restructuring the investor base towards greater balance, professionalism, and sustainability. In addition, representatives of fund management companies and securities companies delivered presentations on topics of interest, including the application of technology in investment and asset management; the development of digital financial products and new, modern investment products; portfolio management using artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data; data transparency and system security; and knowledge of personal financial planning, asset management, and smart investment portfolios...
